For the past year, our studio found its new home: a 7,000 sqft warehouse that was formerly a custom automotive workshop, now completely reimagined. Designed by the Agathus team, the Gallery serves not only as our home office but as the setting for our seasonal furniture, artwork displays, and retail goods. Whether used for client consultations, community workshops, or a real-life shopping experience, this space is multi-functional and one of our most ambitious projects to date.

The showroom is divided into four zones, each designed to feel like a lived-in space. Rather than a traditional gallery, the showroom functions as both home and exhibition where design pieces and artworks are experienced in context. This approach allows guests to see how each element contributes to a cohesive lifestyle setting, merging utility with artistry.

The experience begins at the entryway, where artist Lily Clark’s water sculpture introduces a quiet, meditative rhythm. Throughout the space, architectural elements, natural materials, and living greenery work together to establish a sense of continuity between the built environment and the natural world. At the center of the showroom, a 13-foot Queensland bottle tree planted into a raw basalt slab anchors the interior landscape. Inspired in part by traditional East Asian courtyard homes, where planted gardens create a quiet threshold between architecture and nature, the greenery unfolds throughout the space alongside furniture, artwork, and architectural elements. Ficus audreys and other living plants introduce softness, movement, and an element of time into the interiors. This approach reflects our interest in biophilic design and the wabi-sabi sensibility of living with natural materials, imperfection, and change.

The showroom brings together a collection of artists and makers whose practices share our appreciation for material, craft, and the relationship between the organic and the built environment. Across ceramics, painting, sculpture, and collectible furniture, the works explore themes of memory, time, landscape, and material expression. Sculptural ceramic vessels draw from geological formations and natural landscapes, while paintings explore atmospheric relationships between light, solitude, and memory. Custom furniture and sculptural objects balance the character of natural materials with architectural precision, allowing texture, proportion, and craftsmanship to inform the surrounding space. Each piece is selected for its character, material integrity, and the story it carries.

More than anything, we wanted to create a place that feels alive. The showroom is not intended to feel finished, but to evolve alongside our practice, the artists and makers we work with, and the people who pass through it. Through seasonal exhibitions, artist showcases, creative workshops, and intimate gatherings, the space will continue to change, welcoming new collections, ideas, and ways of experiencing art and design.

Alongside the gallery, Living Archive extends the Agathus perspective into everyday life through a continually evolving collection of antiques, artwork, home goods, and objects sourced, designed, or closely curated by our studio. Together, the showroom, Living Archive, and our public programming create a shared home for the many sides of Agathus—a place to discover something unexpected, spend time with good work, exchange ideas, and perhaps leave seeing your own home a little differently.

We invite you to visit us in Costa Mesa and experience the evolving world of Agathus.
